Local-first by design
DeepOwn is designed to store vault data on your devices. Direct local-network sync does not require a cloud vault. Your devices and their local storage remain important parts of your security boundary.
These principles help you understand how to use DeepOwn more safely and where your own device security matters.
DeepOwn is designed to store vault data on your devices. Direct local-network sync does not require a cloud vault. Your devices and their local storage remain important parts of your security boundary.
Your 12-word recovery phrase is used to restore your DeepOwn identity. Write it down and keep it somewhere secure and private. Never share it, upload it publicly, or include it in a support request.
Use DeepOwn's device-linking flow carefully. A device that receives synced information may retain its own local copy. Secure every device that has access to your vaults.
Use a strong device passcode, keep your operating system updated, and avoid using DeepOwn on devices you do not trust. Local-first storage does not eliminate risks from malware, physical access, or a compromised device.
No application can guarantee absolute security. Local-first design reduces dependence on centralized cloud storage for vault data, but it does not remove every security risk. Consider the sensitivity of the information you store.
If you discover a potential security vulnerability, please contact us privately at support@deepown.app. Describe the issue and its potential impact, but do not include passwords, recovery phrases, or private vault contents. Do not access other people's data or test systems without authorization.
DeepOwn gives you more control over where your vault data lives. These habits help you use that control responsibly.
Store it securely and separately from devices that use DeepOwn.
Only connect devices you own or otherwise explicitly trust.
Use device locks, install security updates, and be cautious with shared or compromised computers.
Keep your recovery phrase safe and understand that deleting local data on one device does not necessarily delete copies stored on other devices.
No cloud storage is required for local vault storage or direct syncing between devices on the same local network.
No. Local-first design reduces reliance on centralized cloud storage for vault data, but device compromise, unauthorized access, and other risks can still exist.
Never. Support should not need your recovery phrase or your private vault contents to receive a vulnerability report.
Email support@deepown.app. Please report the issue privately and avoid including sensitive personal information.
Your data. Your devices. Your control.
